The Vikings Earn 3rd Place in the 4th Annual NAIA Women's Wrestling National Championships

8 All-Americans & A National Finalist

PARK CITY, KANSAS - Grand View competed at the 4th Annual NAIA Women's National Championships this weekend, in Park City, Kansas. The Vikings qualified 12 wrestlers to the tournament, and brought home eight 2026 NAIA All-Americans. GV's Tristan Nitta was dominate on the backside of the bracket and earned the Most Falls Trophy for the National Tournament. The Vikings earned 3rd place in the team race with 145.5 points on the weekend. Grand View's Catie Campbell and Madison Diaz both earned their 4th NAIA All-American honors which is an incredible feat in such a young program.

RESULTS

Eliana Martinez | 110 lbs.  Martinez came out hot with a fall over Kaylynn Martin (Friends) in just 0:44 and a tech fall over Myriam Riley (Dickinson State) before dropping an 8-3 decision to Avery Ashley (Oklahoma City) in the quarterfinals. Her tournament ended in the consolation bracket against Grand View teammate Tristan Nitta.

Mayangelie Colon | 117 lbs. Colon received a first-round bye but dropped a fall to Carolina Rios (Texas Wesleyan) in round two. She battled back with a tech fall over Mariah Dillard (Wayland Baptist) and a fall over Sarah Pineda (Missouri Valley) before falling 6-2 to Joely Slyter (Providence) to close out her tournament.

Maya Davis | 124 lbs. Davis opened with a gutsy 5-4 decision over Addison Messerly (Campbellsville) before falling to Kaitlin Castro (Cumberlands). She responded well in the consolation bracket with falls over Daniela Espinal (Montreat) and Jasmina Immaeva (Missouri Valley) before falling to Alyssa Randles (Providence) by tech fall to end her tournament.

Nicole Olson | 160 lbs. Olson ran into a tough draw, falling to Maria Slaughter (Missouri Valley) in round one. After a consolation bye, she dropped to Micah Fisher-Miller (Cumberlands) to close out her tournament. Every rep on this stage makes the program better.

2026 NAIA ALL-AMERICANS

Isabelle Apple | 103 lbs.  Apple opened strong with a tech fall over Isabella Bocanegra (Providence) and a fall over Destiny Jones (Saint Mary) before dropping a tight 5-4 quarterfinal decision to Zoey Haney (Indiana Tech). She came back with a fall over Liana Ferreira (Southern Oregon) in the consolation bracket but fell 7-5 to Makennah Craft (Campbellsville). She dropped the seventh-place match to Aynsley Fink (Ottawa) but finished with a solid points contribution for the team. As a freshman, Izzy has so much to look forward to in her wrestling future at Grand View.

Lita Cruz | 103 lbs. Cruz received a first-round bye, then earned a fall over Morgan Repasky (Montreat) and a 6-4 decision over Aynsley Fink (Ottawa) to reach the semifinals. She dropped a tech fall to Erin Hikiji (Providence) in the semis, then fell 5-4 to Makennah Craft (Campbellsville) in the consolation semis. Cruz closed her tournament on a high note, winning an 8-4 decision over Alexis Miller (Oklahoma City) in the fifth-place match.

Tristan Nitta | 110 lbs. Nitta's tournament was a testament to resilience. After a first-round fall over Raquel Garcia (Missouri Valley), she dropped a tight 6-6 decision to Kayla McNatt (Arizona Christian) in round two and was forced into the consolation bracket. From there, she went on an absolute tear — a bye, a fall over Makenize Smith (Indiana Tech), a tech fall over her Grand View teammate Eliana Martinez, a fall over Avy Perez (William Penn), and then a fall over Kayla McNatt (Arizona Christian) in the consolation semis to earn a rematch and get her revenge. She closed it out with a fall over Kylie Robledo (Baker) in the third-place match. A remarkable run. Nitta earned the Most Falls Trophy for the Tournament and is now a 3x NAIA All-American.

Cailin Campbell | 117 lbs.  Campbell was outstanding throughout the bracket. She opened with a fall over Lakota Rogers (Bismarck State), a tech fall over Sarah Pineda (Missouri Valley), and another tech fall over Carolina Rios (Texas Wesleyan) in the quarterfinals. She ran into Christianah Ogunsanya (William Penn) in the semis and dropped a tech fall, but bounced back with a tech fall over Grace Lashinsky (Lindsey Wilson) in the consolation semis. She fell to Zao Estrada (Missouri Valley) in the third-place match, settling for fourth.

CAILIN CAMPBELL ALL-AMERICAN

Catie Campbell | 124 lbs.  Catie Campbell battled through a tough bracket with tremendous grit. After opening with a fall over Jes'Onia Barefield (Georgetown), she dropped a narrow 3-2 decision to Alyssa Randles (Providence) and was pushed to the consolation bracket. She reeled off three straight wins — a tech fall over Tess Barnett (Wayland Baptist), a 2-0 decision over Kaylee Annis (Southern Oregon), and a tech fall over Kaitlin Castro (Cumberlands) — before falling to Rei Ogden (Bismarck State). She closed her tournament with a tech fall over Lola Barkby (Indiana Tech) to earn seventh place. Catie will now be remembered in Grand View Women's Wrestling history as a 4x All-American for the Vikings. Congratulations Catie!

Madison Diaz | 145 lbs. Diaz showed plenty of fight all tournament. She opened with back-to-back decisions over Amelia Fawcett (Life) and Brooke-Lynn Rush (Missouri Valley) before running into Jordan Suarez (Wayland Baptist) in the quarters and dropping a tech fall. She responded with a lightning-fast fall over Elise Twait (Providence) in just 0:27, then a decision over Maggie Ortmann (Missouri Baptist), before falling to Holland Wieber (Southern Oregon) in the consolation semis. She closed it out with a 4-0 decision over Brooke-Lynn Rush (Missouri Valley) to claim fifth. Diaz is now apart of special company, becoming a 4x All-American in a Grand View singlet. Congratulations and well earned!

Andjela Prijovic | 180 lbs. Prijovic was arguably the most dominant Viking on the women's side throughout the tournament. She recorded a fall over Autumn Perez (Missouri Valley), followed with a tech fall over Johanna Carrasco (Baker), then earned a 5-2 decision over Hannah Jackson (Ottawa) in the quarterfinals. In the semis, she dominated Kathryn Hingano (Southern Oregon) by tech fall to reach the championship match. She ultimately fell to Piper Fowler (William Penn) in the finals, but her run to the title match was impressive from start to finish.

Selena Mares | 207 lbs.  Mares was electric through the early rounds, recording three straight falls over Hayeni Costa (Lindsey Wilson), Kiona Michel (Eastern Oregon), and Madeline Welch (Life) to reach the semifinals. She dropped a tough 3-2 decision to Haley Ward (Avila) in the semis, then fell to Leilani Sanchez (Wayland Baptist) in the consolation semis. She bounced back to claim fifth with a fall over Madeline Welch (Life) in the fifth-place match. Another Freshman on this stud filled team, and Selena has a bright future as a Viking!
