Grand View Earns 4 Champions in Crete

CRETE, NEBRASKA – The Grand View women's wrestling team delivered an outstanding performance at the Doane Open, crowning four individual champions and earning multiple additional podium finishes. The Vikings showcased their depth and talent across multiple weight classes.

103 lbs - Isabelle Apple (1st Place)

Isabelle Apple dominated her way to a championship at 103 pounds. After receiving a first-round bye, Apple recorded a technical fall over her quarterfinal opponent 10-0 in 1:46. She continued her dominance in the semifinals with a 16-6 technical fall. In the championship match, Apple sealed the title with a fall at the 2:57 mark, completing a perfect tournament run.

110 lbs - Eliana Martinez (1st Place)

Eliana Martinez captured the 110-pound title with an impressive tournament performance. After a first-round bye, Martinez recorded a technical fall 10-0 in just 1:10, then followed with a fall in 1:50 in the quarterfinals. Martinez won her semifinal match by decision 6-0 before claiming the championship with a fall at 5:38 in the finals.

124 lbs - Isabella Silva (1st Place)

Isabella Silva steamrolled through the 124-pound bracket to claim gold. After receiving a first-round bye, Silva won by technical fall 11-0 in 2:49. She continued her dominant run with lightning-quick falls in the quarterfinals (29 seconds) and semifinals (48 seconds). Silva capped her championship performance with a technical fall 10-0 in 2:21 in the finals.

207 lbs - Selena Mares (1st Place)

Selena Mares captured the 207-pound championship with a dominant showing. After receiving a quarterfinal bye, Mares recorded a fall in just 57 seconds in the semifinals. She secured the title with a fall at 5:39 in the championship match, completing an undefeated tournament.

Additional Podium Finishes

110 lbs - Keana Bush (3rd Place)

Keana Bush battled through the consolation bracket to earn third place at 110 pounds. After falling in the championship quarterfinals, Bush won four consecutive matches in the consolation bracket, including a technical fall 10-0 in 3:28 and a decision win in the consolation semifinals. Bush claimed third place with an 8-0 decision victory in the third-place match.

207 lbs - Ariana Chavez (3rd Place)

Ariana Chavez earned a third-place finish at 207 pounds. After winning her quarterfinal match by fall in 4:09, Chavez fell in the semifinals. She rebounded in the consolation bracket with a fall in 1:23 in the consolation semifinals before securing third place with a fall in 1:19 in the third-place match.

Other Notable Performances

At 103 pounds, Sophia Millage advanced to the semifinals with two fall victories before finishing fourth. At 124 pounds, Audrey Scherer won her opening match by technical fall and added a consolation bracket victory. At 138 pounds, Denalie Dauphin won four matches in the consolation bracket, including a technical fall victory over teammate Elizabeth Peters. Elizabeth Peters also competed at 138 pounds, advancing through the championship bracket before falling in the quarterfinals. At 145 pounds, Maria Sanfiel won a consolation match by decision. At 160 pounds, Carly Klein competed in the tournament. At 110 pounds, Gacie Reyes also represented Grand View.

The Vikings' four champions and two additional placers highlighted a strong team performance at the Doane Open, showcasing the program's depth and quality across multiple weight classes.

UP NEXT
Grand View will compete in a dual next Thursday, December 11th. That dual will be at Waukee Northwest High School, against the University of Iowa Hawkeyes.
