DES MOINES, IOWA - Beolyn Ntirampeba, a member of the Grand View University women's soccer program, has been awarded the highly competitive Gilman Scholarship to support her study abroad experience in Madrid, Spain, during Summer 2026.
On the field, Beolyn has been a valuable part of the Grand View women's soccer team, developing leadership, teamwork, and time management skills that translate directly into her academic pursuits. Balancing the demands of collegiate athletics with a rigorous academic schedule has strengthened her ability to adapt, collaborate, and lead with purpose.
Off the field, Beolyn is double majoring in Secondary Education and Spanish, preparing for a future career dedicated to inclusive and globally minded teaching. Originally from Burundi and raised in Tanzania, she brings a rich and diverse cultural perspective to her academic journey. Her background has shaped her passion for education and her commitment to supporting English language learners, with a strong focus on helping students build confidence and succeed in the classroom.
Through the Gilman Scholarship, Beolyn will study Spanish language and culture at the Universidad Antonio de Nebrija in Madrid. This immersive experience will allow her to strengthen her Spanish fluency while deepening her understanding of Spanish-speaking cultures, directly enhancing her effectiveness as an educator and her ability to connect with students from diverse linguistic and cultural backgrounds.
