Grand View University Men's Basketball Coach Denis Schaefer is excited to announce the signing of 13 new student athletes to the Vikings program, finalizing the 2025 recruiting class. The recruiting class features 7 transfers and 6 incoming freshmen. Coach Schaefer on the recruiting class as a whole. "We are really excited about this year's recruiting class. We were lucky enough to bring back a good amount of production from last year's group so filling in the rest of the roster with a good mix of older guys who are battle tested with young talented Freshman was something we set out to do from the beginning. We feel that they are all competitive players on the court but will be true ambassadors of our program off the court with their commitment to each other and their overall character as people. I can't wait to watch them all become part of our institution, community and program and make positive impacts for Grand View both on and off the court."
Aaron Poe

Poe is an incoming Fr. from Des Moines North HS. Poe is coming off a senior campaign in which he averaged a career high 8.0 ppg and 4.1 rpg. Poe helped lead the Polar Bears to a 15-7 record and to the second round of sub state action. Coach Schaefer on Poe: "Aaron has been around our program for a few years and is very familiar with us and how we want to play. He has the ability to play a host of positions and be impactful on both sides of the ball for us."
Ben Belew
FR | G | 6-2 | Jesup, IA | Don Bosco HS
Belew joins the Viking as an incoming Fr. from Don Bosco HS. As a senior Belew average a team high 15.4 ppg and 7.8 rpg while shooting 43% from the field and 32% from three. Belew also earned all conference honors for his senior campaign as well. Coach Schaefer on Belew: "Ben is an incredible person and has a contagious energy about him that we are excited to add to our program. He can score the ball on all three levels and is a big time competitor - we are excited to watch Ben continue to grow here at GV."
Brody Ingold

Ingold comes to Des Moines coming off a record breaking season for Bolivar HS, a powerhouse program in Missouri. Ingold broke the single season record for three pointers made with 99 in his senior season (99 for 260) Ingold finished the year averaging 15.3 ppg and was also listed to the all district team this past season. Coach Schaefer on Ingold: "Brody is the definition of a competitor and plays with a chip on his shoulder. Brody is a true floor general PG and takes pride in getting the ball spread around to his teammates. We have big expectations for Brody and are excited to see him in red and black!"
Carson Bennett
JR | G/W | 6-3 | Hugoton, KS | Seward County CC
Bennett enters his first year with the Vikings and is an incoming transfer from Seward County CC. Over Bennett's two seasons as a Saint he hit the most combined three pointers in the KJCCC with 122 while shooting a combined 34% from 3. Bennett was also named the Kansas HS 4A player of the year in his Senior year with Hugoton HS, while leading his team to a state championship. Coach Schaefer on Bennett: "Carson is going to help our program both on and off the floor. CB is a natural leader and loves to compete, with his ability to shoot the ball we are looking for CB to make an immediate impact on our program. We are excited to have him with us at the View."
Daviyon Gaston
JR | G | 6-0 | Dyersville, IA | Iowa Central CC
Gaston comes to GV after a two-year stint with the Tritons of Iowa Central. Gaston was a part of a Triton team in 24-25 that won 20 games and finished as regional runner ups. This season Gaston averaged 6.9 ppg while shooting 34% from three point range and being ranked 4th in the conference with a 1.9 Ast to TO ratio. Gaston also tied an ICCC record with 7 steals in a game. Coach Schaefer on Gaston, "DG is a true point guard in every sense of the word - he embraces running a team and just wants to compete and win. He is the type of player that wants to guard the other team's best scorer and plays with a chip on his shoulder. We are thrilled to have DG with us here at GV."
Jackson Stacy
FR | G/Fwd | 6-2 | Kansas City, MO
Stacy joins the Vikings from St Pius X HS in Kansas City, MO. Stacy is coming off a senior campaign in which he averaged 15.7 ppg and 6.4 rpg while shooting 51% from the field and 35% from 3-point range. Stacy was voted Class 4 District 15 player of the year and earned 1st team all-conference as well. Coach Schaefer on Stacy, "Jackson is the type of player and person that every coach wants to coach and have as a part of their program. He is a relentless worker and has a contagious personality that makes others want to be around him and match his work ethic. We are thrilled to have Jackson as a part of our program."
Levi Hoskins
FR | G/W | 6-3 | Des Moines, IA
Hoskins is an incoming Fr. who joins GV coming off a senior season that made it to the Substate Semifinals. Hoskins finished the year with career highs across the board, finishing 3rd in scoring, averaging 7.8 ppg, 3rd in rebounding at 3.7 RPG, and finishing 2nd on the team in assists per game at 2.5 per game. Coach Schaefer on Hoskins, "Levi was our first signee of the recruiting class. We loved how versatile he is as a player and comes from a winning program. When Levi stepped foot on campus for his visit, we knew he was a match for our program with the way he plays and his approach as well. We are excited to watch Levi continue to grow here at GV."
Lukas Helms
JR | G/Fwd | 6-6 | Lincoln, NE | Concordia University
Helms is an incoming transfer who is no stranger to the NAIA after two years at Concordia (NE) he enters his first season with the Vikings. As a Freshman, Helms started 31 of 32 games and averaged 6.2 ppg on 47% shooting from the field. In his sophomore campaign, Helms averaged 6.0ppg and 2.2 rpg while shooting 55% from the field. Helm helped guide Concordia to a 50-15 record the past two seasons. Coach Schaefer on Helms, "Lukas has been around the game forever, coming from such a prestigious basketball family. He is going to step on to campus and impact our team in many different ways - as a player, Lukas is still just scratching the surface. For as good as a player that Lukas has shown to be, he is still hungry to grow, and we are excited to watch his game develop."
O'Shawn Jones-Winslow

Jones-Winslow joins the Vikings by way of Kansas City Kansas CC where in his two seasons he helped the Blue Devils to a 48-20 record and helped lead his team this past year to the national tournament. During his sophomore season Jones-Winslow averaged 7.7 ppg and 4.8 rebounds per game while ranking 10th in the conference in offensive rebounds and 2nd in the conference in blocks. Coach Schaefer on Jones-Winslow, "O'Shawn is going to bring a level of physicality and toughness to our locker room that we are really excited about. O'Shawn is also someone that we can rely on to play a multitude of positions and guard 1-5. His ability to run the floor and play above the rim adds a dynamic to our roster that will be able to really help us. We are looking forward to getting to work with O'Shawn!"
Rodell Davis Jr.
JR | G | 6-3 | Granger, IN | Southwestern Michigan College
Davis Jr is another incoming transfer that is coming off a great two-year career at Southwestern Michigan CC where he set records in 3 pointers made in a game (9) threes made in a season (69) and threes made in a career (132) while shooting an impressive 40% from deep. Davis Jr was also voted an all-conference selection in both seasons with SMC. Coach Schaefer on Davis Jr., "RJ is a winner both on and off the court and comes from a coach's background with his father serving as his junior college coach and a long time D1 assistant. RJ gives us another wing that can really shoot the ball at a high level and loves to compete. He is also an older guy who we fully expect to come in and provide a leadership dynamic in our locker room from day 1, we couldn't be happier to have RJ as a Viking."
Riley Edwards

Edwards joins the Vikings fresh off a 20-win season where the Tritons went on to be runner ups in the regional championship. Edwards, an Altoona native returns to Des Moines to finish off his college career. During his time at ICCC, Edwards hit 48 3 pointers at a 32% clip while also shooting 38% from the field. Edwards was a 15.4 ppg scoring as a Senior at Southeast Polk HS helping the Rams to the second round of substrate. Coach Schaefer on Edwards, "Riley is another great example of players that just love the game, he has a tireless work ethic and is always in the gym. He has already made huge strides from the end of his sophomore year with Iowa Central to the work he has put in this summer to the player he has become now. We are excited to see Riley continue to grow here at GV."
Jayden Mackie
RS-SO | G | 6-1 | Waterloo, IA | Upper Iowa
Mackie is transferring to Grand View from Upper Iowa, where he has spent the first 3 years of his college career. Mackie redshirted his first season before battling injuries over his past two seasons. Coming out of high school at Applington Parksburg, Mackie was ranked as the #17 prospect in the state of Iowa. As a senior at Aplington-Parkersburg HS, Mackie averaged 21.1 ppg and tied the single game scoring record with 44. He was also named Player of the year and was named All-State as well. Coach Schaefer on Mackie, "Jayden is exactly what we look for in our transfers, talented players but even better people. He is an extremely high character individual who has tremendous upside as a player. He is a natural scorer who can really score it from all three levels. Much like our other transfers, we are looking for Jayden to step into a leadership role right away with our team. Looking forward to watching Jayden grow!"
Xavier Haller

Haller is an incoming Fr here at GV, as a senior Haller was an extremely versatile piece for West Fork HS as he led the team in several categories. Including rebounding (7.6) steals (2.8) blocks (1.4) assists (3.1) and was second in scoring (13.4) per game. Haller helped lead his team to the second round of substate his senior year. Coach Schaefer on Haller, "Xavier is a swiss army knife as a player and can do a little bit of everything. Xavier is able to really do some things offensively and has a wide skill set but thrives defensively using his wingspan and athleticism to really pressure the basketball and get deflections. He is another player that comes from a well-coached high school program, and we are excited to watch him grow here at Grand View."
