Grand View Rolls York in Dominant Home Win, 87-53

DES MOINES, IOWA – The Grand View men's basketball team picked up their third home win of the season in dominant fashion, defeating York University 87–53, Saturday evening inside the Dave Sisam Arena.

The Vikings got off to a slow start offensively, trading baskets through the opening minutes before Daviyon Gaston knocked down a three to give Grand View its first lead at 7-6. Jaxson Young added a driving layup, and Rodell Davis Jr. knocked down a three-pointer of his own to make it 14–9 six minutes through the first half.

York stayed within reach early behind timely shooting from the perimeter, trimming the deficit to one late in the half. The Vikings responded with a 12-6 run capped by a pair of free throws and a layup from Lukas Helms, followed by a three-pointer, to close the half ahead 33–26.

After the break, Grand View took complete control. York opened the second half with a quick three and a free throw to pull within three, but that was as close as it would get. The Vikings responded with a 26–6 burst over the next eight minutes. O'Shawn Jones-Winslow connected from deep and added a pair of free throws to cap off the dominant run, pushing their lead to 60-36.

The Vikings' defense fueled the offensive explosion, forcing turnovers and dominating the boards. Off the bench, O'Shawn Jones-Winslow provided a major spark with 10 points and six rebounds, while Riley Edwards and Rodell Davis Jr. added steady minutes on both ends.

Grand View capped the performance with a barrage of three-pointers from Riley Edwards, Jaxson Young, Frankie Chiodo, and Carson VandeLune. The Vikings' lead ballooned to as many as 37 points late in the game, before closing out the 87–53 victory. Grand View outscored York 54–27 in the second half and shot 51.7% from the field and 56.3% from three after halftime.

Helms led the way with 25 points, going 7-of-12 from the field and 9-of-11 from the line. Gaston added 14 points, four assists, and four rebounds, while Young contributed 13 points and six boards.
