PROSPER, TEXAS – The Grand View Vikings travelled to Prosper, Texas this week to compete in the Texas Invitational at Gentle Creek Golf Club. Gentle Creek Golf Club is a par 72 course and played at a lengthy 7,317 yards. The Texas invitational consisted of 11 teams and 60 golfers within the NAIA, and was the first event the Vikings competed in this Spring. The Vikings sat in 5th place after the first 36 holes on Monday posting team scores of 302 and 306. Harrison Frolling led the team carding a 73-74 (+3), followed by Calvin McNealy who fired an 80-72 (+8). Other contributing scores included a 74-80 (+10) by Jack Winkel, and a 75-80 (+11) by Gabe Beardsley, respectively.
In the third round of the tournament, the Vikings got off to a slow start dropping 1 spot on the leaderboard and carding multiple double-bogeys within the first few holes. Throughout the round, the Vikings found their footing and posted a respectable score of 298, posting scores of 73, 73, 75, and 77 and finishing the tournament in 5th place. The Vikings were led by sophomore Harrison Froling, who remained consistent with his stretch of 73-74-73 scores, carding a tournament score of 218 (+4) and finishing in 9th place. Calvin McNealy (t-17th) and Jack Winkle (t-27th) followed behind with respectable scores of 225 (+9) and 229 (+13). Rounding out the Vikings were Gabe Beardsley (t-48th) and Cade McGill (59th) posting tournament scores of 241 (+25) and 250 (+34).

The Grand View Men's golf team will hit the links next on March 9th-10th at the Baker Invitational in Kansas. The Vikings look to improve on their scores as they get back into the swing of things after a cold winter.
