Grand View Women's Bowling Competes in the Avila Eagles Invitational

KANSAS CITY, MISSOURI - The Grand View women's bowling team kicked off the second half of their season at the Avila Eagles Invitational #1 and #2, held January 25-26 in Belton, MO. The event consisted of two one-day tournaments, each featuring a different sport pattern. Day one included five individual games, while day two consisted of 25 Baker games.

Day One: The women's team put in a strong performance, led by senior Emilee Hall with a five-game total of 886 for a 177.4 average. She was closely followed by senior Isabel Tetmeyer with an 882 total (176.4 average), freshman Kennady Bigwood with 862 (172.5 average), and freshman Brianna Musgrave with 827 (166 average). Sophomore Madison Pickett added three games, scoring 496 (165.3 average), while junior Kylie Arai contributed two games with a 305 total (152.5 average). The women's team finished with a 25-game total of 4258 pins, averaging 171 per game, earning them 5th place out of 12 teams.

Individually, several Grand View bowlers placed in the top 30 out of 110 competitors:        

Day Two: The women competed in five sets of five Baker games, totaling 25 games on a new sport pattern. They alternated lanes during each game and moved to different pairs of lanes for each set. The team recorded a total pinfall of 3994, averaging 160 per game, which earned them 8th place out of 12 teams.

Despite the challenging patterns, the women's team demonstrated resilience and gained valuable experience as they prepare for the upcoming NAIA #1 and #2 tournaments in Lawrence, KS, this weekend.

JV Women: The JV women's team also competed and showed great promise. They finished 2nd out of 3 teams on both days.

  • Day One Leaders: Junior Michelle Stewart led the team with an 840 total (168.9 average), followed by graduate student Ashley Wiegand (792 total, 158.1 average), freshman Chastyn Gering (789 total, 157.8 average), freshman Bianca Fuquey (721 total, 144.3 average), and junior Kiera Jors (708 total, 142 average). The team posted a total pinfall of 3850, averaging 154 per game.

  • Day Two: The JV women recorded a total of 3781 pins, averaging 151.2 per game over the 25 Baker games.
