Viking Men's Bowling Hit the Lanes for Avila Eagles Invitational

KANSAS CITY, MISSOURI - The Grand View men's bowling team also returned to action at the Avila Eagles Invitational #1 and #2, facing tough competition and challenging lane patterns.

Day One: Junior Dru Wilder led the men's team with an impressive five-game total of 960, averaging 192 per game. He was followed by junior Justin Graves with a 933 total (186.6 average), junior Kory Ludden with 920 (184 average), and freshman Sam Kock with 857 (174.3 average). Junior Xander Pickett added three games, scoring 524 (174.7 average), and junior Jonathan Fetherston contributed two games with a 325 total (163 average). The men's team finished with a 25-game total of 4519 pins, averaging 181 per game, placing 12th out of 14 teams.

Day Two: The men bowled 25 Baker games, alternating lanes within each five-game set. They recorded a total pinfall of 4105, averaging 165 per game, and finished 13th out of 14 teams.

While the results weren't what they had hoped for, the men gained valuable experience on challenging lane conditions and will look to improve as they prepare for the NAIA #1 and #2 tournaments in Lawrence, KS, this weekend.

JV Men: The JV men's team also competed and worked hard throughout the weekend.

  • Day One Leaders: Sophomore Skyler Vong led the way with a 957 total (191 average), followed by senior Dominick Judge with 840 (168 average), senior Camrey Cavan with 837 (167.4 average), junior Ethan Simpson with 728 (145.6 average), and freshman Gabe Methum with 678 (136 average). The team totaled 4040 pins, averaging 161.1 per game, and placed 7th out of 8 teams.

Day Two: The JV men tallied 4142 pins over 25 Baker games, averaging 165 per game, and finished 7th out of 8 teams

UP NEXT

Both the men's and JV teams gained valuable experience that will help them as they continue to compete in challenging tournaments. The focus now shifts to preparation for this weekend's NAIA #1 and #2 tournaments.
