CEDAR RAPIDS, IOWA - The men's and women's Grand View University bowling teams traveled to Cedar Rapids, Iowa, to compete in their first tournament of the season, the Five Seasons Classic on Nov. 1–2. The men finished 11th out of 16, and the women's team finished 8th out of 17.
On Saturday, the men bowled 25 individual games. Leading the team was freshman Ashton Wells with a five-game total of 986 (197.3 average), followed by sophomore
Neko Manna with 894 (179 average) and senior
Andru Wilder with 881 (176 average). Adding four-game sets were senior
Kory Ludden with 751 (189 average) and
Xander Pickett with 737 (184.2 average). Senior
Jonathan Featherston added two games with a total of 369 (184.5 average). The men's total pinfall for day one was 4,618 (185 average).
On day two, the men put together a 20-game baker set of 3,414 for a two-day team total of 8,032 (179 average). Freshman Ashton Wells also finished 26th individually out of the 188 athletes.
The Grand View women's team finished 8th out of 17. On Saturday, the women bowled 25 individual games. Leading the team with a five-game set was sophomore
Kennady Bigwood with 888 (177.6 average) and sophomore
Brianna Musgrave with 840 (168 average). Adding four games was senior
Kylie Arai with 701 (175.2 average), while
Madison Pickett contributed three games totaling 572 (190 average).
Adding two games was sophomore
Bianca Fuquey with 268 (134 average), and freshman Annika Weber added one game of 169. The women's team total was 4,234 (170 average). On day two, the women bowled 20 baker games and finished with a combined two-day total of 7,596 (169 average).
The Grand View JV men's bowling teams also traveled along this weekend. JV1 finished 6th out of 15, and JV2 finished 14th out of 15.
It wasn't quite the outcome they hoped for, but all teams showed determination, effort, and a positive attitude throughout both days. With a mix of returning players and freshmen, the coaches remain optimistic for future competitions.
