LAWERENCE, KANSAS - The Grand View Men's Bowling team competed in Lawrence, KS, at the NAIA West #1 and NAIA West #2 on February 1-2, 2025.
Day One: NAIA West #1
The men's tournament began with five individual games. Junior Dru Wilder led the Vikings with a total of 963 for a 193 average, finishing in 26th place. Other top contributors included junior Xander Pickett with a 913/182.8 average, junior Justin Graves with an 894/179 average, and junior Kory Ludden with an 855/164 average. Additional games were played by junior Jonathan Featherston, sophomore Skyler Vong, and freshman Sam Kock. The men's team combined for a 25-game total of 4,519 pins for a 180.7 average, placing 14th out of 17 teams.
Day Two: NAIA West #2
On the second day, the men competed in 25 team baker games, achieving a total pinfall of 4,293 for a 172 average. They finished 17th out of 18 teams. The team faced adversity when team captain Dru Wilder sustained a shoulder injury early in the day, but co-captain Justin Graves stepped up to keep morale high and lead the team through the competition. With five seniors graduating last year and only two varsity returners, the team is using this season to gain valuable experience and improve their chemistry on the lanes.
UP NEXT
Both teams will compete next in the prestigious Tier 1 Hoosier Classic, the largest tournament of the year. With 76 men's teams and 66 women's teams participating, this tournament is the final preseason event to earn power points and RPI rankings, offering a chance to elevate Grand View's standing nationally.
