EUGENE, OREGON - Nathan Limas, the sophomore out of Roland, IA, and a member of the Grand View track and field team, will travel to Eugene (Springfield), Oregon, as he competes in the 2024 Olympic Trials at Hayward Field in the 20,000-meter Race Walk.
Limas, a sophomore, has qualified four times for indoor and outdoor events and has been named an All-American four times in the NAIA. Recently, he participated in the 20,000-meter race in Chula Vista, California, finishing in 1:39:54, securing a spot in the 2024 Olympic Trials. Nathan will be one of 20 athletes who have qualified for the trials in Race Walk and is one of two collegiate athletes competing.
The Roland native has set the school record in race walk at Grand View and surpassed his personal best with his most recent outdoor time of 22:59.92. This time was a minute faster than his previous personal record set last season in the 5000-meter Race Walk at the 2024 NAIA Outdoor Track & Field Championship, a testament to his continuous improvement and dedication.
Limas will head to Euguene with assistant track and field coach Nicole Mundy and will compete on the 9th day of the trials at 9:00 a.m. Trial qualifiers will compete in the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, France.
