MARYVILLE, MISSOURI – The Men's and Women's Indoor Track & Field Heart of America Conference Championships took place this Friday and Saturday. The championships held 21 events throughout the two days, and the Vikings earned 8th in the Men's, and 6th place in the women's team results.
Men's Team Highlights (8th – 33 points)
Grand View's Jeovanni Hayes earned 8th place in the 60m hurdles with a good performance. The 4x400m relay earned National B standard and qualified for nationals with a 3:16.59s finish. The relay team includes Kannon Tippetts, Travis Lembechwa, Teaghan Warren, and Riley Graber.
Lembechwa also earned himself a second team All-Conference honor as he tied second in the 400m dash. His 48.12 was good enough for a new school record in the 400m.
Nathan Limas and Jayton Poole also earned 2nd team All-Conference honors. Limas placed 2nd in the 3000m racewalk and hit the new A standard. Poole finished 2nd in the high jump at the Heart Championships.
Delane Lewis Jr. earned honorable mention All-Conference honors as he took 5th in the Heptathlon. DJ's highlight came in the 1000m as he won the heptathlon 1000m heat.
Women's Team Highlights (6th – 45 points)
Grand View earned two champions on the women's side this weekend. Addysyn Terpstra hit National A Standard in the 60m hurdles with an 8.58s time. This topped her own school record and was good enough for 1st place in the Heart of America Championships. That earned her 1st team All-Conference honors. GV's second champions came at Shot Put. Carolyn Miller threw a 13.47 m shot put on her final attempt, to take the gold this weekend. Miller earned 1st Team All-Conference in the Shot Put. Miller also earned 2nd Team All-Conference honors in the weight throw with a 15.87 m attempt. Miller was tied for the highest point scoring athlete in the women's conference championship, contributing 18 total team points for the Vikings.
Leilani Mitchell was awarded 3rd Team All-Conference for her performance in the 3000m racewalk as well, and Fabiola Gamboa Garcia took 7th place in that same event on Saturday.
The women's 4x400m relay team is made up of Addisyn Terpstra, Brynna Croy, Taryn Nehring, and Elise Smith. The team brought home 5th place and honorable mention All-Conference honors with their time.
Other notable performances include the women's 4x800m relay earning 8th place along with the Distance Medley Relay. Kendall Hein also finished 8th place in the mile race, and Kaiya Gonzalez earned a 7th place finish in the pentathlon.

The Indoor Track and Field NAIA National Championships are March 5th - 7th. That wil be in Gainesville, Florida in just 2 weeks.
