MOUNT VERNON, IA:Â Grand View Track and field was back in action as they took part in the Cornell Invitational. Despite the windy conditions the Vikings were able to keep building upon their strong season opener.Â
NATIONAL QUALIFERS:Â
Nathan Limas and
Seth Diser both hit the NAIA A standard in the 5K racewalk with times of 22:59 and 23:36, both of which are under the previous school record. They are sitting at 4
th and 8
th place nationally.Â
Madison Green improved her A standard mark in the Discus with a throw of 46.19 meters.Â
Blake Willey improved his shot put throw with a mark of 16.66 meters placing him 7
th in the country.Â
Nathan Wilde placed 2
nd in the hammer throw with a toss of 53.62 meters good enough for the NAIA B standard.
CHAMPIONS:Â
The women's 4X100 relay of
Anna Paul,
Brynna Croy, Terpstra, and
Neomi Sidique took the top spot with a time of 50.09.Â
Green picked up wins in the hammer throw and discus for the second straight meet, placed 2
nd overall in the shot put as well.Â
Limas picked up a win in the 5k Racewalk.Â
Jeovanni Heyes won the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 57.18.Â
The men's team picked up wins in both relays in the afternoon with the 4X100 running a 43.58 while the 4x400 went 3:29.
Jayton Poole won the high jump with a leap of 1.92 meters
NOTABLE PERFORMANCES:Â
Liberty Leis placed 4
th in the 1500 meter run with a time of 5:11.15
Addisyn Terpstra placed 2
nd in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 15.27
Women's 4X400 meter relay were runner ups with a time of 4:20.92
