SILVIS, IL — The Grand View University men's golf team finished 15th at the NAIA Men's Golf National Championship, posting a four-round total of +83 (+11, +16, +21, +35) at TPC Deere Run in the four-day event running May 12-15. Oklahoma City claimed the team title at +33.
Harrison Froling was Grand View's top performer on the week, carding rounds of +6, +2, +6, and +1 to finish at +15 overall, good for a tie for 33rd in the individual standings. His final-round +1 was a bright spot in an otherwise difficult day for the Vikings and showed the consistency he brought throughout the tournament.
Krish Gupta finished tied for 36th individually at +16 (+1, +3, E, +12), providing a reliable presence in the lineup through the first three rounds before a tough final day. Together, Froling and Gupta gave Grand View their steadiest scoring throughout the week.
Jack Winkel finished tied for 58th at +21 (+1, +1, +8, +11), opening the tournament with back-to-back rounds of +1 before the course took its toll over the weekend. Calvin McNeeley (+35) and Cade McGill (+39) round out the Viking scoring, finishing 79th and 81st respectively.
What made this week truly meaningful was the journey that brought Grand View here in the first place. The Vikings dug themselves a significant hole early in the year, but their play down the stretch was nothing short of remarkable. They gradually climbed the national rankings from 40th all the way inside the top 25, took runner-up at the conference championship, and earned an automatic bid to nationals, their first trip to the national championship in five years. The hardest part was done.
Then came the conditions. With winds nearing 40 mph for portions of round one and on-and-off rain complicating matters further, followed by 25 mph winds in round two, the Vikings battled through and made the cut, sitting in prime position to do something special heading into the weekend. The final two rounds proved to be a struggle, but that couldn't diminish what this group accomplished. Just being in that position, on that stage, in that field, was something special in itself.
WHATS NEXT?
The 2025-2026 season has officially ended, and it ended on a high note. The Vikings team will change significantly heading into next season, with three members of the team graduating. The Viking golf team will return two heavy hitters in Krish Gupta and Harrison Froling, as well as great talent in the upcoming recruiting class.
