Vikings Finish Third at the Music City Classic

OLD HICKORY, TN – The Grand View University men's golf team delivered a statement performance against some of the nation's best, finishing third at 19-under-par behind No. 1-ranked Keiser and No. 5-ranked Webber International. Competing in a loaded field featuring many top-25 programs, the Vikings posted rounds of 289-278-278 to secure a podium finish and further establish themselves among the NAIA's top contenders.

Grand View opened the tournament at 1-over as a team but quickly found its rhythm. Calvin McNeeley led the way in round one with a 2-under 70, while Jack Winkel followed with a 1-under 71. Krish Gupta added an even-par 72 to keep the Vikings within striking distance heading into day two.

Winkel and Gupta paced the Vikings with matching 5-under 67s, helping fuel a 10-under team score of 278. Harrison Froling added a steady 2-under 70, giving Grand View three under-par counting scores as they surged up the leaderboard.

Grand View once again fired a 10-under 278 in round three, finishing with the lowest combined score in the field over the final 36 holes. The Vikings led all teams in scoring across rounds two and three, separating themselves from the competition with their consistency and depth.

Winkel capped off an outstanding tournament with a 4-under 68, finishing at 10-under overall to place fifth and earn All-Tournament Team honors. The finish marks back-to-back top-five performances for Winkel.

Gupta followed with a 2-under 70 in the final round to finish at 7-under and tie for seventh, also earning All-Tournament Team recognition. His performance secured back-to-back top-10 finishes and marked the second top-10 showing of his career.

Froling delivered a consistent tournament, carding back-to-back rounds of 70 to finish even par and tie for 29th. McNeeley bounced back with a strong final-round 70 to place 37th overall, while McGill rounded out the lineup with a 75 in round three to finish 78th.

Grand View's dominant play over the final two rounds proved to be the difference, allowing them to finish comfortably ahead of several nationally ranked programs, including No. 11 Marian (IN) and No. 16 Lindsey Wilson.

WHATS NEXT?

Finishing behind only the top-ranked team in the country and another top-five program, the Vikings' third-place performance helped move up the rankings heading into the Heart of America Conference Tournament on April 27th and 28th.
