SILVIS, IL — The Grand View University men's golf team sits in a tie for sixth place through two rounds of the NAIA Men's Golf National Championship, posting a two-round total of +27 (+11, +16) at the four-day event running May 12-15.
Jack Winkel has been Grand View's standout performer, carding back-to-back rounds of +1 to sit at +2 overall and share sixth place in the individual standings. His consistency in difficult, wind-swept conditions has been the driving force behind the Vikings' strong team position.
Krish Gupta sits right behind him at +4 (rounds of +1, +3), tied for 15th individually and firmly in contention heading into the weekend. Together, Winkel and Gupta have given Grand View a reliable one-two punch at the top of the lineup.
Harrison Froling bounced back in Round 2 with a +2, improving on his opening +6 to sit at +8 overall through 36 holes. Calvin McNeeley (+13) and Cade McGill (+20) round out the Viking scoring.
With two rounds remaining, Grand View is well-positioned to make a move up the leaderboard. The Vikings have shown they can handle the conditions, round three is moving day. Cade McGill will tee off first for the Vikings starting at 8:50 AM on Thursday, May 14th.
