NEWTON, KS - Grand View men's golf hosted a stacked, 16-team field at the Mid-South Classic over the weekend, finishing 10th at +28 (292-300-300) after a promising opening round gave way to a couple of tougher days on the course.
The Vikings opened with a +4 team round that had them within shouting distance of the leaders, but back-to-back +12 rounds on day two dropped them down the leaderboard. Northwestern (IA) ran away with the team title at -19 in a 16-team field.
Leo Fiscus was Grand View's top finisher, tying for 27th at +5 (+3, +4, -2). Fiscus posted a bogey-free final round, moving up the leaderboard more than 10 spots.
Krish Gupta gave the Vikings their best round of the tournament, opening with a 3-under first round, and finished T38 at +7 (-3, +2, +8).
Chris Drake and
Harrison Froling both tied for 54th at +11, with Drake going +2, +3, +6 and Froling going +2, +5, +4.
Ryan Constable rounded out Grand View's scoring five, tying for 59th at +12 (+5, +3, +4).
Four more Vikings played as individuals outside the team score:
Parker Cary tied for 87th at +24,
Hudson McLaren finished 95th at +35,
Trayson Hastings was 97th at +40, and
Drake Mueller was 98th at +41.
