DES MOINES, IOWA — Grand View University Esports is excited to announce the appointment of Allan Brewer as the new Head Coach of the Valorant program. A Grand View alumnus and former team captain, Brewer returns to campus ready to lead the next era of Viking Valorant.
Brewer competed for Grand View from January 2022 through December 2024, serving as varsity team captain and helping shape the program's competitive identity. During his playing career, he reached a Diamond 3 peak rank in Valorant and led the Vikings through one of their most successful competitive stretches to date.
Under Brewer's leadership, Grand View earned the No. 1 seed in NECC Division 5 during the Fall 2024 season. He also guided the roster to a top-four finish in the UCL Cloud Division tournament and captured a Valorant Premier Championship title in Elite Division 2. While competing, he still found the time to support scholastic esports by coaching local high school teams and players.
As a former captain, Brewer developed a reputation for strong in-game communication, strategic preparation, and accountability. Those qualities define his approach as head coach, where he focuses on player growth, tactical refinement, and maintaining a championship mindset.
"Allan understands what it means to compete against high-level teams," said Nathan Ragsdell, Director of Esports at Grand View University. "He's been in the competitive ecosystem, had to punch up in weight class, he's experienced the pressure of playoff runs. His tenure in Valorant competition has prepared him for the competitive collegiate Valorant landscape imparting the resilience and grit necessary to pursue excellence."
Brewer's return represents a continuation of the culture built over the past several seasons. His firsthand experience balancing academics and competition at Grand View positions him to mentor current student-athletes both inside and outside the game.
Grand View University Esports celebrates Brewer stepping into the head coaching role; the Valorant program poised to build upon its recent successes and setting sights on performing at even higher heights.
