YPSILANTI, MICHIGAN – The competitive cheer team for Grand View University qualified for the NAIA National Championships for the first time in program history! The Vikings had a fantastic preliminary round on Friday, with an 87.2. The preliminary round accounts for 25% of the final score, and the Saturday round accounts for 75%. The Vikings had another solid performance on Saturday and an 83.75 final score was awarded for the two performances! GV cheer finished 12th in the nation and such a proud moment for the school.
Head Coach, Sarah Buss had this to say about the weekend;
"This team not only accomplished but exceeded their goals and made their mark in the GV Cheer record books! To watch them grow and to watch their story of resilience and fight, is an honor as their coach. They represented GV with pride, class and superior athleticism and that is the winning culture we strive for each and every day on this team."
This team will be remembered for raising the bar for Grand View cheer and athletics as a whole. Coach Buss also had this to say when asked what this team meant to her,
"I will forever tell future teams about this 24/25 team that never gave up on the process, themselves or each other. We "hit zero" on the national stage and that feeling alone is unmatched and something all of us will cherish forever. Although the season has ended, what this team sparked is the start of a legacy."
What a weekend and what a season for Grand View cheer. So much to look forward to but also a season to look back on and appreciate! Congratulations on making history at GV.
