Grand View Men’s Bowling Competes at National Collegiate Team Match Games

FAIRVIEW HEIGHT, ILLINOIS - The Grand View Men's Bowling team traveled to Fairview Heights, Illinois, on November 23-24 to compete in the prestigious National Collegiate Team Match Games. Facing some of the top-ranked teams in the nation, the Vikings put forth a strong performance and showcased significant progress.

Day One: Individual Games
The competition began with five individual games, where the Vikings were led by standout performances:

  • Dru Wilder (JR): 1,118 total pins (224 average), finishing 9th out of 224 bowlers with scores of 213, 189, 235, 234, and 247.
  • Xander Pickett (JR): 1,001 total pins (200 average).
  • Justin Graves (SR): 938 total pins (188 average).
  • Jonathan Featherston (JR): 868 total pins (174 average).
  • Neko Manna (FR): Bowled four games for a total of 770 pins (193 average).
  • Sam Kock (FR): Rolled his first varsity game, scoring a 180.
    Camrey Cavan (SR) was subbing in for fill frames, providing additional support.

The team finished the day with a five-game total of 4,875 pins, averaging 195 per game.

Day Two: Baker Games
Day two featured 20 Baker games, where the team rebounded from a slow start. Their five four-game sets were:

  • 669, 820, 803, 688, and 764, totaling 3,744 pins (187.2 average).

Across both days, the Vikings amassed a two-day total of 8,619 pins, averaging 191.5.

Overall Performance
Wilder's 9th-place finish highlighted the weekend, as the Vikings demonstrated steady improvement and a competitive edge. Facing elite programs, the team continues to show that its hard work is paying off as it builds momentum for the remainder of the season.

Grand View's men's bowling team left the tournament with heads held high, eager to continue climbing the ranks.

The Viking's next tournament is on December 7th-8th as they travel to Sioux City, IA, for the Mustang Invitational.
