OVERLAND PARK, KANSAS – The women Vikings traveled down to Nicklaus Golf Course at Lionsgate, to compete in the Heart of America Conference Fall Preview. Grand View was one of nine schools competing in the two-day tournament. The course played at just over 5,700 yards this week. Grand View finished 5th in the well-respected field, having three schools ranked in the nation. Lionsgate seemed to play much more difficult on day one, having a combined average score of 6 strokes better on day two for the women. The Vikings finished with 711 (+135) strokes combined over the 36-hole stretch, with a wonderful second round effort to break the top 5.
The squad was led by senior Megan Riesselman who fired an 89 (+17) on Monday, and a more complete round of 82 (+10) on Tuesday, finding 2 birdies on the second round of action. Her efforts on round two raised her up to 12th place in the 45-person field. Riesselman has shown consistency throughout the season with here finishes.
The rest of the Vikings showed grit during the 2-day stretch, finishing with a better round on Tuesday. Jaya West captured a 90 (+18), 85 (+13) in the Preview. She golfed solid throughout, only having one double bogey or worse in the second 18 holes and earned her a top 20 finish at 17th. Kate Rahfeldt followed close behind on the leaderboard at 23rd , completing the rounds at 35-over par total. Rahfeldt found a couple birdies early on Tuesday, but didn't have the same control on the back nine. The course proved to be a tougher test on the back nine all tournament long. Dani Hurt rounded out team this weekend finishing the week at 29th in the field. Although Hurt didn't have the start she wanted, round 2 showed much determination. Hurt shot a 41 (+5), 41 (+5) in the final round of the Preview and tied the best round for the Vikings at 10 over par.

The Grand View women kept their composure through a difficult track and finished the fall season with things to look forward to. The Heart Preview was the final round for them until the spring season hits, so the Vikings look to find improvements during the winter months.
