ST. LOUIS, MO – Grand View and Missouri Baptist played to a 1-1 draw on Saturday afternoon, as Valeria Gonzalez's first goal of her Grand View career put the Vikings in front before Missouri Baptist answered in the closing seconds of the first half and neither side could find a winner over the final 45 minutes.

Grand View created the better of the early chances, testing the Missouri Baptist goalkeeper in the 17th minute through Gracie Sullivan and again in the 18th through Riley Pryor, sandwiched around a Dakota Enikova shot that was blocked in the third minute. Missouri Baptist settled in as the half wore on, working a pair of corner kicks and drawing a save out of Maya Fritz in the 24th minute. Grand View also turned to its bench early and often, bringing on Adyson Little, Valeria Gonzalez, Dayana Espinoza, Teresa Riveros-Ortiz, Sara Arias and Blair Burnham throughout the half as it searched for a breakthrough.

The moves paid off. Gonzalez, on for just under 10 minutes after entering as a substitute in the 25th minute, buried her first goal as a Viking in the 35th to make it 1-0. Grand View nearly doubled the lead five minutes later when Jackie Riveros-Oritz forced another save out of the Missouri Baptist goalkeeper, but the Vikings couldn't find a second before the break. The Spartans answered right back, leveling the score at 1-1 in the final seconds of the first half to send the two teams into the locker room tied.

Missouri Baptist came out with more urgency after the intermission, putting together a stretch of pressure between the 51st and 56th minutes that produced five shots, including two more saves from Fritz. Grand View weathered the storm and pushed back itself, getting saves out of the Missouri Baptist goalkeeper from Taylor Pattee in the 55th minute and Riley Pryor in the 57th before Dakota Enikova put a shot just wide left in the 58th. Sara Duque was shown a yellow card for Grand View in the 62nd minute as the physicality picked up, and the Spartans kept generating chances the rest of the way, testing Fritz again in the 62nd and 71st minutes and sending a header just over the bar in the 71st. Grand View had its own late looks to steal it, with Alli Seegers, Sophia Lavariega and Enikova all getting shots off over the final half hour, but neither goalkeeper was beaten again and the match finished level.

Saturday's result was Grand View's second tie of the season, moving the Vikings to 2-3-2 overall (1-1-2 in conference), while Missouri Baptist also picked up its second draw, improving to 1-3-2 (0-1-2).
