Grand View Takes Care Of Business On The Road 71-45

PARKVILLE, MISSOURI – The Grand View women's basketball team defeated Park 71-45 on Tuesday evening in a dominant Heart of America Conference road victory.

Grand View took control early in the first quarter, building a commanding lead behind balanced scoring and crisp ball movement. Ellie Knock opened the scoring with a layup assisted by Abigail Jones to give the Vikings a 2-0 advantage. Park answered briefly, but Abigail Jones knocked down a three-pointer assisted by Anna Gossling to push it to 5-0. Park converted two free throws to cut it to 5-2, but Anna Gossling responded with a layup to make it 7-2. Taryn Ottemann came off the bench and made an immediate impact with a layup assisted by Claire Galbraith to extend the lead to 9-2. Ottemann added a three-pointer assisted by Gossling to push it to 12-2. Park scored a layup to make it 12-4, but Amaya Davison answered with a jumper to extend it to 14-4. Davison added a fast-break layup assisted by Gossling to make it 16-4, then converted another fast-break layup to push the lead to 18-4. Knock converted two free throws after being fouled to extend it to 20-4, then Davison made two free throws to make it 22-4. Knock capped the Vikings' dominant quarter with a three-pointer assisted by Lily Smith to give Grand View a commanding 25-8 advantage after one quarter.

The second quarter saw Park fight back with their best offensive performance of the half, but Grand View maintained their double-digit cushion. Park scored a layup assisted by Jordan Bianco to cut it to 25-10, then added back-to-back layups by Charleece Davis to make it 25-14. Taryn Ottemann stopped the run with a layup and converted the following free throw to push it back to 28-14. Ottemann made two more free throws to extend the lead to 30-14. Park scored a layup assisted by Bianco to cut it to 30-16, but the Vikings responded late in the quarter. Ottemann drew a foul and converted one of two free throws to make it 31-16. Park went on a 5-0 run with a layup and three free throws by Nevaeh Spillman to cut the deficit to 31-21 heading into halftime, their closest margin since early in the first quarter.

Grand View regained control in the third quarter with efficient shooting from beyond the arc. Amaya Davison opened the quarter with a layup assisted by Taryn Ottemann to push the lead back to 33-21. Ellie Knock recorded a steal and Anna Gossling knocked down a three-pointer assisted by Davison to extend it to 36-21. Park scored a layup assisted by Davis to cut it to 36-23, but Knock converted a fast-break layup to make it 38-23. Park's Spillman scored a layup and converted the following free throw to cut it to 38-26, and Davison made one of two free throws to push it to 39-26. Abigail Jones knocked down a three-pointer assisted by Gossling to extend the lead to 42-26. Claire Galbraith recorded a steal and Gossling hit a three-pointer assisted by Galbraith to make it 45-26. Park scored a layup assisted by Sheridan Curley to cut it to 45-28, and Gossling responded with a jumper assisted by Eva Peterson to push it to 47-28. Park scored a layup assisted by Nadiyah Cooper to make it 47-30, and Peterson added a layup to extend Grand View's lead to 49-30. Park scored a fast-break layup by Cooper to cut it to 49-32, and Knock closed the quarter with a layup assisted by Smith to give the Vikings a 51-32 advantage heading into the final quarter.

The fourth quarter saw Grand View pull away for good with a balanced offensive attack. Claire Galbraith opened the quarter with a jumper assisted by Ellie Knock to push the lead to 53-32. Park's Madison Hill answered with a three-pointer assisted by Curley to cut it to 53-35, but Anna Gossling converted one of two free throws to make it 54-35. Knock knocked down a three-pointer assisted by Gossling to extend the lead to 57-35. Park scored a layup assisted by Hill to cut it to 57-37, and Galbraith responded with a layup assisted by Gossling to push it to 59-37. Gossling added a jumper to extend it to 61-37, then Galbraith hit a three-pointer assisted by Gossling to make it 64-37. Park's Erica Farmer scored a jumper to cut it to 64-39, and Gossling responded with a jumper to push the lead to 66-39. Amaya Davison added a jumper to extend it to 68-39. Park's Rhiannon Blackburn hit a three-pointer assisted by Farmer to cut it to 68-42, and Jordan Bianco converted one of two free throws to make it 68-43. Addalyn Rooney capped the scoring with a three-pointer assisted by Smith in the final seconds to seal the 71-45 victory. Grand View's defense remained stout throughout the quarter, limiting Park's scoring opportunities and securing the convincing road win.

  • Anna Gossling led the Vikings with 15 points on 6 of 15 shooting, including 2-of-9 from three-point range, and added 7 rebounds and 3 assists.
  • Ellie Knock contributed 14 points on 5 of 9 shooting, including 2-of-4 from three-point range, and added 8 rebounds, 2 assists, and 3 blocked shots.
  • Amaya Davison chipped in 14 points on 5 of 14 shooting and added 10 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 steals for a double-double.
  • Taryn Ottemann came off the bench to add 10 points on 3 of 8 shooting, including 1-of-5 from three-point range, along with 8 rebounds and 2 blocked shots.
  • Claire Galbraith contributed 7 points, 5 rebounds, and 3 assists, while Abigail Jones added 6 points off the bench.
  • Grand View shot 39.4% from the field and 27.3% from three-point range, held a 47-39 rebounding advantage, and forced 22 turnovers while committing just 17.
