DES MOINES, IOWA – The Grand View Men's Soccer team secured a thrilling 4-2 victory over the #6 seed Central Methodist University in the Heart of America Conference Tournament Quarterfinals. The Vikings showcased resilience and offensive firepower to advance to the semifinals in an exciting home match
The game started with an early goal by Central Methodist's Robin Vandewalle in the 3rd minute, assisted by Antoine Hurel, giving the visitors an immediate lead. Grand View responded swiftly, with
Payton Chapman converting a penalty kick in the 9th minute. The Vikings continued to press and added another insurance point just before halftime with another penalty by Chapman in the 44th minute.
In the second half, Central Methodist responded with an equalizing goal in the 63rd minute from Koen Schimmel, assisted by Hurel. However, Grand View responded once again, with
Justin Figaroa netting the go-ahead in the 70th minute. The Vikings sealed the victory in the 89th minute when
Wilmont Manneh scored, assisted by
Felipe Augusto, to secure a 4-2 win and move on in the tournament.
Grand View's defense held strong, with goalkeeper
Luis Helm making four saves. The team demonstrated offensive balance, creating 13 shots with eight on target, and capitalized on their chances when it mattered most.
This victory marks a significant achievement for the Vikings, who showed determination and teamwork to overcome a talented Central Methodist squad.
