Women’s Soccer Suffers 3-0 Loss Against #18 Central Methodist

FAYETTE, MISSOURI – The Grand View Women's Soccer team faced a challenging away game this past Saturday against Central Methodist University, falling 3-0 in a competitive contest. Despite a strong defensive effort, the Vikings struggled to generate offensive chances against the host Eagles' organized defense.
The first half saw both teams playing tightly, with Central Methodist taking the lead in the 21st minute on a penalty kick by Mariana Barreto, who scored her 15th goal of the season. Grand View's offense was limited, managing only one shot in the opening 45 minutes, while the Eagles fired six shots and maintained pressure throughout the half.
The second half continued with an intense offense from CMU as they extended their lead in the 46th minute from Jenna Brouwer and in the 73rd minute when Sara Garcia scored her third goal of the season on a penalty kick. The Eagles' defense held firm, and despite the Vikings' efforts to mount a comeback, they were unable to find the net again.
Grand View's defense was anchored by goalkeeper Maya Fritz, who made 3 saves in the game. The team's offensive production was limited, with only one shot on goal, but they remained resilient defensively in a game marked by physical play and disciplined effort.
