DES MOINES, IOWA – Grand View took to the court for their home opener on Saturday, October 25th, facing off against the Mayville State University Comets.
The Vikings came out strong from the opening tip, jumping to an early 5-0 lead with two layups and a free throw. Mayville found their first basket of the game with 7:12 on the clock, but that would be their only score of the quarter. With the score at 5-3 in favor of Grand View, the Vikings went on a dominant 17-0 run to end the quarter ahead 22-3.
The Vikings struggled to find a rhythm early in the second quarter, allowing Mayville to open with a 7-0 run that trimmed the lead to 12. Grand View quickly responded with a run of their own, as two jumpers from
Lily Smith sparked an 8-0 surge to push the advantage back to 20 with 5:22 left in the half. In the final minutes, the Vikings were outscored 9-5 but still entered halftime with a 35-19 lead.
Grand View and Mayville traded baskets to open the third quarter before the Vikings found momentum again, extending their lead to 20 on an
Eva Solseth layup with six minutes remaining. However, Grand View managed just one point the rest of the quarter, allowing the Comets to chip away and cut into the margin.
Starting the fourth up 44-30, the Vikings saw their lead drop to single digits with 6:20 to play. Grand View regrouped, sharing the ball effectively as four different players contributed baskets to stretch the lead back to 16. The Vikings closed strong, securing a 62-48 victory in their home opener.

- Amaya Davison led the Vikings in scoring with 19 points on 6-12 shooting. Davison also went 6-6 from the free throw line.
- Anna Gossling recorded 6 steals and 10 points on 5-12 shooting.

- The Vikings out-rebounded the Comets 41-33.
