Women’s Soccer Falls 2-1 to #5 Missouri Valley College, But Not Without a Fight.

DES MOINES, IOWA – The Grand View Women's Soccer team narrowly fell 2-1 to Missouri Valley College, ranked #5 nationally, in a competitive home game. Despite a strong effort, the Vikings couldn't overcome an early deficit and battled hard throughout the match.

Missouri Valley opened the scoring early in the 7th minute when Marta Carrasco Mesa scored, assisted by Judit Ferre, giving the visitors an initial lead. Grand View responded quickly in the 21st minute with a goal from Riley Pryor, assisted by Soleil Collins, to level the game at 1-1. However, the high-ranked Vikings of Missouri Valley regained the lead in the 24th minute when Judit Ferre scored her second goal of the game, which proved to be the game-winner.

The Vikings showed resilience and fought to stay in the game, but struggled to generate sustained offensive pressure. Grand View put up two shots, with one on target, while Missouri Valley put up 21 shots, including 14 on goal, testing the Vikings' defense and goalkeeper Maya Fritz, who made 12 saves.

Despite the loss, the team demonstrated fight and effort against a top-tier opponent. The match was played with intensity and discipline, with the Vikings committing 10 fouls and earning no cards.
