KANSAS CITY, MISSOURI – Jackson Cockrell has been named the NAIA Men's Wrestler of the Week. The winners were selected based on their performances from November 6-12 and were chosen from a pool of conference/Continental Athletic Conference (Independents)/unaffiliated group nominees.
Competing in the 133-pound weight class at the NWCA National Duals,
Jackson Cockrell delivered an impressive 3-0 performance, playing a key role in Grand View's first-place finish. Along the way, he secured victories over the No. 19, No. 9, and No. 1 ranked wrestlers in his weight class. In the finals, Cockrell capped off his dominant showing with a thrilling sudden victory (SV-1) win, defeating Thaddeus Long of Life (Ga.), the top-ranked wrestler in the division.
Cockrell is now the second Viking to win NAIA Wrestler of the Week Honors this season.
