Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Fritz Records 8 Saves in Conference Road Loss

ATCHINSON, KANSAS - The Grand View women's soccer team dropped a hard-fought 1-0 decision to Benedictine (KS) on Saturday. Goalkeeper Maya Fritz put in a standout performance, making eight saves on 22 shots faced, including several crucial stops in the first half to keep the game level. Benedictine applied constant pressure, tallying 13 shots in the first half alone, but Fritz kept the Vikings in the game with five early saves.

The decisive moment came in the 75th minute when Benedictine's Payton Vogelbacher scored off an assist from Kourtney Koc. The Vikings' defense blocked multiple shots and defended six corner kicks throughout the match, with Evelyn Hierzer and Blair Burnham providing support on both ends of the field.

Despite being outshot 22-0, Grand View continued to battle, holding Benedictine scoreless for most of the match. Offensively, the Vikings were unable to break through Benedictine's defense but showed resilience in their efforts to equalize.
