CEDAR RAPIDS, IA: The Grand View Vikings open post season play against the Mid-America Nazarene Pioneers on May 2^nd at 9:30 AM. The Vikings were able to secure a 5^th place finish in the conference qualifying them for the Heart of America Conference tournament. 

The Vikings enter the Heart Conference tournament with an overall record of 30-15, going 14-10 in Heart play. The conference tournament will be played at a neutral site running from May 2^nd -5^th with a double elimination format. This benefits the Vikings as they performed better in neutral site contest going 4-1 as well as being 18-6 on the road this season.

The last time the Vikings squared off against the Pioneers it was a little over a week ago where they split the double header. The Vikings would take game 1 5-2 before falling 5-3 in the second contest. Through the match up history the Vikings have controlled the series going 18-6 dating back to 2007 and have never lost more than 2 in a row to them. Through the series the Vikings have scored 162 runs total and average 6.75 runs a game. 

Looking ahead if the Vikings win their opening match up, they will either face the top ranked CMU Eagles or the 8^th ranked Graceland Yellow Jackets. The Vikings dropped a pair of closely contested games against the eagles, while they take two commanding wins over the Yellow Jackets this season.
 
Looking at some of the key stats from this season the Vikings were able to generate 229 runs in their 45 games, with 23 of them coming off home runs. As a collective they nearly hit .300 with a batting average of .293 and an on base % of .373. Not only did Jessica Walljasper lead the team in hits and RBIs this season with 47 and 30, but she also led the team in innings pitched with 129, wins with 15, and 166 K (9.01 k/7).
