DES MOINES, IOWA – The 4th-ranked Vikings hosted Culver-Stockton College Wildcats in their second home match of the week. Grand View won with a sweeping victory for the second time this week. The scores were 25-9, 25-16, and 25-13.
The opening set was the most efficient for the Vikings, hitting .471 a clip on 17 attempts. Leading the charge early was
Daniel Galili. The junior recorded the final kill of the first set as Grand View looked dominant, taking set one convincingly, 25-9.
The Wildcats showed themselves to be more aggressive in the second set. They nearly tied the score halfway through until
Daniel Wong put one through the middle to take an 11-7 lead.
Nelson Becassis would grab a kill upon checking in to further GVU's lead, 21-14. Back-to-back kills by Andre Lucas Alves Leandro would secure a second set, putting the Vikings just a set away from their second sweep of the week.
Grand View had all the momentum heading into the third set and quickly jumped out to an 11-4 lead. After trading errors,
Isaiah Kalima-Izumi got things back on track with a kill. An ace from
Dalton Dencklau increased the advantage to 23-10. Becassis finished his career-high evening with two kills to finish off the Wildcats, 25-13.
