DES MOINES, IOWA - The 5th-ranked Vikings capped off their weekend by finishing the series versus the Tigers on Saturday, February 18th. The Vikings struggled early on in the match versus the Tigers, digging themselves a hole, but managed to take the game to four sets, where they fell 3-1.
The Vikings would struggle on day two, looking sluggish in the early goings, and the Tigers would lead early and often in the first set. A Grand View timeout would be the last-ditch effort in the first set to gain some control, but the Tigers handled the first set 25-20.
In the second set of the game, Grand View seemed more confident. The teams exchanged leads initially, but
Daniel Galili's kill helped GVU gain a good lead of 15-12.
Dalton Dencklau's impressive return added three more points to GVU's lead, and the Tigers had to take a timeout. After the timeout, GC improved and trailed by only one point. However,
Daniel Wong's kill and block helped his team to secure the set, and the score was tied at 1-1.
Grand View had difficulty stopping Georgetown in the final two sets, falling 25-14 and 25-17. The second set would be the Viking's high point on the day, hitting .400%, but hitting an average of .142% in sets one, three, and four.
