DUBUQUE, IOWA - Grand View University traveled to Dubuque, Iowa for a highly anticipated match-up against the top team in the Heart of America. Unfortunately, the Vikings experienced a slow start and fell to the Pride with a score of 93-78. As a result, Grand View's overall record is now 22-4, with an 18-4 record in the Heart.
The Vikings would struggle early in the contest, shooting flat from the field at just 41.7%. The No. 5 Pride would shoot 64.3% from the field as they also got off two more shots. GVU managed to cut the CU lead with less than three minutes remaining in the first quarter, but the Pride found their rhythm in transition, resulting in a double-digit lead for the Vikings to overcome.
During the second quarter, the Vikings performed better, scoring ten points in a row before the five-minute mark. Although they were still behind by ten points after a lay-in from Larsen, the Vikings were able to reduce the lead to single digits thanks to an offensive rebound and putback by
Cleao Murray. The Pride would connect on 3-6 from beyond the arc, being the propelling factor to the Viking's 43-33 deficit at the halftime break.
The Pride came out strong in the second half, dooming the early hopes of a Vikings comeback with an 8-0 run to start the final 20 minutes.
Anna Gossling brought the Vikings back within a single-digit deficit after a Pride turnover. However, a late run by Clarke continued their comfortable lead, and Grand View trailed 66-54 to close out the third quarter.
In the final quarter, the CU lead never dropped below nine points, and the Vikings had a hard time stopping the Pride from scoring. The Pride won the HOA top match-up with a 93-78 victory over Grand View, holding serve in Kehl Center.

The Vikings, who are ranked 20th, will be taking a break this weekend. Next Tuesday, they will be travelling to Atchinson, KS for a rematch against the Ravens. This game will mark the final regular season road game for Grand View. The tip-off time is set for 5:30 p.m.
