Gossling Shines in Revenge Win Over the Ravens, 84-77

ATCHINSON, KANSAS – 20th ranked Grand View hit the road for their final regular season road game. The Vikings met with the Ravens of Benedictine College. Hot three-point shooting and a massive night from Gossling would even the series between the two by an 84-77 victory on Wednesday evening on February 21st.

The Viking's first scorer of the evening was Anna Gossling, who had a big night for her team. Following a Raven turnover, Grand View picked up their largest lead of the contest so far as Cleao Murray found one in transition. A run by GVU would see Benedictine trailing ten by the end of the first quarter, 27-19. The Vikings shot a blistering 64% from the field and 75% from beyond the arc in the first quarter alone.

Both teams struggled offensively in the second quarter. The scoring would start on a split pair of free throws from Ella Larsen for the Vikings. After the Ravens chipped into Grand View's lead, the Vikings got hot from three once again to connect on three from a trio of Vikings in Lauren Conrey, Murray, and Gossling to pull ahead 11 in the final three minutes of the second quarter.

Grand View's momentum traveled through the break as Gossling drained another three-ball. The Vikings continued to push the edge as they erupted for a 13-0 run in the first five minutes of the 3rd quarter. Conrey checked her second three of the contest to give GVU a 24-point lead over the Ravens (67-43). At the end of the third quarter, the Ravens would cut their deficit to under 20, as Grand View entered the fourth quarter up, 70-53.

Gossling had a career-high night, scoring 27 points while shooting 10-13 from the field. She was also almost perfect from beyond the arc, finishing 3-4 from three-point range. The Ravens managed to win the fourth quarter, but the Vikings' strong performance in the game's early stages secured their victory with a final score of 84-77. With this win, the Vikings improved their record to 23-4, with a Heart record of 19-4.
