INDIANAPOLIS, INDIANA - The Grand View Men's Bowling Team recently participated in the 55th Hoosier Classic, the largest bowling tournament of the year held in Indianapolis, Indiana. The tournament saw 78 teams competing on two of the most difficult lane patterns they see all season. However, the team had to play with a completely different roster due to losing two varsity players to early graduation, and two varsity players who were not able to travel.
On Saturday, the team played six individual games with SO.
Andru Wilder leading the team with 1147/191.1 average, SO.
Xander Pickett 1072/179 average, SR.
Nicholas Prochnow 990/166 average, with SR.
Alexander Knoshaug, JR.
Jonathan Featherston, SO.
Brandon Nakaoka, and FR,
Skyler Vong adding additional games and fill balls. The men's first-day total was 5185/173 average.
On Day Two, the men were back on the lanes at 6:30 AM for the 15-game sets. Baker sets proved to be more challenging for the team, but they came on strong in their last five game set for a baker set of 2442/163 average. The men had a two-day team total of 7627/170 average. The men finished 69/78 teams, just missing moving up three spots by 26 pins.
A shout-out to SO.
Andru Wilder, with his second appearance at the Hoosier, placing 138 out of 585 bowlers.
FROM COACH FELTON:
"We can't be any prouder of these players; they never let up and kept learning as we went, as the lanes would literally transition every few frames. To the JV players who have never played on varsity stepping up when called upon, what a great job from all of you."
UP NEXT?
Next up is the Heart of America Conference and the men are ready to battle.
