DES MOINES, IOWA – 17th-ranked Grand View hit the hardwood in Sisam Arena for their second-to-last home contest. The Vikings would make the Wildcats pay early from beyond the arc as they collected another win, 68-61.
Grand View would connect on a three from
Anna Gossling's hot hands to start the contest. The two teams would trade baskets in the early goings of the first quarter. The Vikings shot a blistering 75% from three; Gossling connected on two of the six for the Vikings. The final three of the first quarter belonged to
Rachel Leerar, who gave Grand View a 24-15 lead heading into the second quarter.
Murray got the scoring going for the Vikings early in the second quarter with an offensive board followed by a tip-in. Grand View's largest lead in the second quarter remained at nine, but a scoring drought for GVU followed by a small Culver-Stockton run would cut Grand View's lead to a nil two-point lead. An offensive board from Larsen resulted in a layup for Leerar to give Grand View two more to their lead as they headed to the locker rooms at the half up 33-29.
The Vikings scored 23 points in the third quarter, and a pair of Gossling free throws would multiply the Viking's lead. Grand View found their largest lead of the contest thus far as they climbed to 11 points after a Murray three. GVU remained hot from the three as
Lauren Conrey chipped in another to give the Vikings a 17-point lead.
Gossling kept the sharp shooting going as she hit her fifth three of the contest to open the fourth quarter. Culver-Stockton made the rally attempt midway through the fourth quarter, but the Vikings remained disciplined, limiting their turnovers as they ran away with a 68-61 win over the Wildcats. Grand View earned their 18
th win in the conference as they lit up Sisam Arena with 14 three-pointers, making CSC pay for their zone defense early.
