DES MOINES, IA – The Grand View women's soccer team hit the pitch for a 90-minute battle against the fighting bees of Saint Ambrose. The Bee's found the net early in the match to help them secure a 1-0 victory over the Vikings.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
The first goal of the match would be by the Fighting Bee's Kaitlyn Brunson who found the net unassisted in the 22nd minute of the match. The Vikings would get a couple decent look at the goal throughout the rest of the half but the half would end at 1-0 in favor of the Bee's.
As the second half begun the Vikings were much more aggressive putting together a handful of runs led by
Vanessa Perez-Sandoval as well as getting several quality looks thanks to corner kicks. Things would also get chippy around the 72nd minute as Grace Kuchar and Mary Evans of Saint Ambrose would both pick up yellow cards on the same play.
At the end of the 90 Minutes the Vikings were unable to find an equalizer and dropped their first match of the year, 1-0 to the Fighting Bee's.

The Vikings return home Saturday for another non-conference match-up, they will play the Mustangs of Morningside at Cownie Soccer Complex this Saturday at 7:30 PM. This game will be senior night with pregame festivities starting around 7:15 PM.
