Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Mens Soccer's Late Rally Falls Short

Olathe, KS- The Men's Soccer team traveled south to square off against the Pioneers of MNU in another conference matchup. Despite the late game surge the Vikings fell short with a final score of 3-2. 

How It Happened: 
The Pioneers jumped out to a quick lead as they found the back of the net in the 7th minute of play followed up by their second goal of the match in the 28th minute. Teams would trades runs in throughout the rest of the half with a few shots before the teams headed for the benches at halftime with the Vikings trailing 2-0. The Pioneers would start the second half just like the first half as they quickly found the back of the net in the 49th minute jumping out to a 3-0 lead. Following the goal the game would start to get chippy as a total of 7 cards would be given out in the second half. The Vikings would use the momentum from the confrontations and finally find the back of the net in the 84th minute thanks to Rune Petersen. Lucas Newhard helped him get open as he picked up the assist. Newhard would ride the momentum as he would quickly score his own goal less than 3 minutes later thanks to an assist by Samuel Londono. The late push by the Vikings wouldn't be enough as they would fail to find an equalizer in the final 3 minutes of play, Pioneers win 3-2.

The Vikings are back in action against rival William Penn starting at 7:30 PM. The match will be played at Cownie Sports Complex.
