Des Moines, IA- The Vikings showed down with William Penn University in the final home game of the season. After a physical 90 minute match the Vikings fell to the Statesmen 2-0.
How It Happened:
The Game started out with the Statesmen in control of the midfield and putting together several close runs before finally connecting on their first shot of the game to give them a quick 1-0 lead in the 7th minute. The Vikings would settle in and start taking the ball deeper into Statesmen's territory and out shot the Statesmen 5-4 in the first half of play. Neither team would find the net again in the first half as the teams went to the break with the Vikings trailing 1-0. The second half would start out with much more intensity then the first half as both teams were fighting for possession as the game continued. The Statesmen again broke open the scoring as they found the net again in the 62nd minute. The Vikings would keep pressing as time was running down and they would collect 3 shots in the second half trying to find an answer for the Statesmen offense. Bosco Perry would play a major role in the second half as he collected several massive deflections down the stretch to keep the game close for the Vikings. But the offense would not be able to get rolling as the Vikings drop their final home game of the season 2-0.
