Head Coach, Angelo Crinzi, enters his 8th season leading the Grand View University Women's Wrestling program. A 2014 Grand View graduate, Crinzi was a member of the Vikings' first three NAIA National Championship and NWCA NAIA National Duals Championship teams under legendary Head Men's Wrestling Coach, Nick Mitchell.
Originally from El Paso, Texas, Crinzi graduated from Sunnyside High School in Tucson, Arizona. Before returning to Grand View, he spent four seasons as the Head Men's and Women's Wrestling Coach at Lindenwood University-Belleville. During his tenure, he qualified athletes annually for both the NAIA Men's National Championships and the WCWA National Championships, producing All-Americans every season. His accomplishments included coaching a wrestler to an undefeated 2018 WCWA National Championship, earning four career All-American honors (7th, 3rd, 2nd, and 1st), becoming a USA World Team member, and qualifying for the 2016 U.S. Olympic Team Trials.
2019-20
Grand View launched its inaugural women's wrestling season in 2019-20. Although the season was cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the program made an immediate impact. Six Vikings earned NWCA Scholar All-American honors, six qualified for the NAIA National Invitational, and six received NWCA All-American recognition.
2020-21
The Vikings captured the program's first Heart of America Athletic Conference Championship, crowned five conference champions, two runners-up, and one fourth-place finisher. At the NAIA National Invitational, Grand View made history by producing the program's first four NAIA All-Americans.
The team also enjoyed success on the national and international stage, including:
· One U20 National Champion
· Three U20 All-Americans
· One U23 National Runner-Up
· Three U23 All-Americans
· One Senior National Runner-Up
· Four Senior National All-Americans
· Four Senior World Team Trials qualifiers
2021-22
Grand View repeated as Heart of America Conference Champions, producing five champions, four runners-up, and one third-place finisher. Crinzi was named the 2021-22 Heart of America Head Coach of the Year, while Vikings earned both the Outstanding Wrestler of the Year and Freshman of the Year awards.
The Vikings placed 6th at the NAIA National Invitational with six All-Americans and finished 4th at the NWCA Multi-Divisional National Duals in the program's first appearance.
International accomplishments included:
· One Bill Farrell International Champion
· Four Senior National All-Americans
· Four Senior World Team Trials qualifiers
· Andrea Schlabach finished fourth at the Senior World Team Trials, one match shy of making Team USA.
·Grand View also reached No. 1 in the national rankings for the first time in program history.
2022-23
The Vikings won their third consecutive Heart of America Conference Championship, finishing with four champions, two runners-up, four third-place finishers, one fourth-place finisher, and one sixth-place finisher. One Viking was named Freshman of the Year.
At the NAIA National Championships, eight Vikings earned All-American honors as the team finished 3rd nationally. Grand View also finished as the NWCA NAIA National Duals Runner-Up.
Internationally, one Viking captured a second consecutive Bill Farrell International Championship.
2023-24
Grand View secured its fourth straight Heart of America Conference Championship, producing three champions, four runners-up, three third-place finishers, and one fourth-place finisher.
The Vikings finished 5th at the NAIA National Championships, earning seven All-Americans. Maya Davis and Abby McIntyre both advanced to the NAIA National Finals.
The season featured several program milestones:
· Andrea Schlabach became the program's first four-time NAIA All-American.
· Schlabach also recorded her 100th career victory.
Grand View placed 6th at the NWCA NAIA National Duals. At the U.S. Open/Olympic Trials Qualifier, one Viking earned All-American honors with an eighth-place finish. Two athletes also earned All-American honors at the U20 World Team Trials.
2024-25
The Vikings claimed their fifth consecutive Heart of America Conference Championship, finishing with four champions, four runners-up, three third-place finishers, and one fourth-place finisher.
Crinzi was named the 2024-25 Heart of America Head Coach of the Year after leading Grand View to its highest national finish in program history. The Vikings earned six NAIA All-Americans and finished as the NAIA National Runner-Up.
Grand View also finished as the NWCA NAIA National Duals Runner-Up for the second time in program history.
Internationally:
· One Viking earned Senior National All-American honors.
· Mayangelie Colon Davila captured both the Puerto Rico U20 and Senior National Championships, earning a spot on the Puerto Rico World Team.
· In July, Colon won a silver medal at the U20 Pan American Championships.
2025-26
Grand View finished as the Heart of America Conference Runner-Up, producing two conference champions, three runners-up, three third-place finishers, and four fourth-place finishers.
The Vikings placed 3rd at the NAIA National Championships, earning eight All-American honors, including one national runner-up finish.
Grand View finished 3rd at the NWCA NAIA National Duals.
Additional highlights included:
· 3x NAIA All-American Tristian Nitta received the Most Falls in the Least Time Award at the NAIA National Championships.
· Catie Campbell became the second wrestler in program history to reach 100 career victories, finishing her career with 110 wins.
· Catie Campbell and Madison Diaz became the program's second and third 4x NAIA All-Americans.
Internationally:
· Mayangelie Colon earned her second selection to the Puerto Rico Senior National Team and finished runner-up at the Central American and Caribbean Games Qualifier.
· Isabelle Silva earned her first Brazil U20 National Team berth.
