Newly named Grand View Head Coach, Coach Stohr, enters her fifth season as a Women’s Basketball Coach with great experience performing various duties under different titles. Before Grand View, Stohr served as an Associate Head Coach at Briar Cliff University under Brita Hand. Prior to their arrival at BCU, the team finished 9th in the Conference with a record of 15-16. The duo produced the best program finishes since entering the GPAC, the first NAIA National Tournament appearance in six seasons, scouted wins against Final Four squads and National Runner-Up, Dordt, voted to the Top-25 coach’s list and many All-GPAC honors. Stohr’s primary roles included recruiting, scouting, game preparation, and managing social media accounts for the program.
Stohr came to Briar Cliff University after serving as an Assistant Coach at D1 Idaho State University. With Stohr on staff, the Bengals finished the season with an 18-13 record, which included a first-round scouted win in the Big Sky Conference Tournament and scout creation against some of the best in the country, including a scouted game resulting in an over-time finish versus Arizona State University. Stohr’s largest growth came from scouting, recruiting, and fundraising at the highest level.
Stohr was one of the best produced by the Frontier Conference; it was only fitting she reestablished herself as a Women’s Basketball Coach in the same Conference she found success as a player. At the University of Providence under Bill Himmelberg, she gained experience training Firs-Team All-Americans as well as scouting and beating multiple Top-25 teams, including National Champion, Montana Western.
During Stohr’s time in the NAIA, she earned:
3x WBCA All American, including 2x first-team
NAIA All-American, including a first-team and 2x second-team honors
Named Frontier Conference Player of the Year Twice
4x Frontier Conference First-Team All-Conference
Named Freshmen Player of the Year
Her decorated career at LCSC led to a Hall of Fame induction in 2019 and an opportunity to play professionally overseas.
Originally from Washington State, Stohr earned a Bachelor’s Degree in General Studies in 2012. She later continued her education to Eastern Washington University in pursuit of a Master’s Degree in Communication Science and Disorders. Stohr holds certification as a Speech-Language Pathologist on the national and state levels and worked in the hospital and school settings prior to returning to basketball.
Stohr resides in the greater Des Moines area with her husband, Joshua, and their three fur babies: Gidgette, Chewy, and Pippa.
