Matt DeBoer

The 2025 season was Coach DeBoer’s fifth as an assistant coach with the Grand View Men's Soccer program. During his tenure at Grand View, the Vikings have held a 54-30-14 overall record.

During that stretch, the Vikings have qualified for the NAIA National Tournament 2 times (2021 & 2025).  The 2025 season ended in historic fashion, as the program claimed its first NAIA National Championship on December 8th, 2025 in Orange Beach, Alabama. Grand View defeated #16 Indiana Wesleyan, #1 Bethel, #9 Georgia Gwinnett, #12 Cumberlands, & #11 West Virginia Tech en route to the national title.

Three players from the championship team garnered NAIA All-American honors; Kevin Ventura, Luis Helm, and Justin Figaroa.  Additionally, Luis Helm was awarded NAIA Defensive Player of the Year honors and Kevin Ventura was named the 2025 NAIA Player of the Year. 

In addition to coaching at GVU, Coach DeBoer also coaches at Johnston High School. Johnston High School won the IHSAA 4A State Championship in 2023 and 2024 and were runner-ups in 2025. DeBoer graduated with a bachelor's degree in social science education from North Dakota State University in 2018, and his master’s degree in educational administration and leadership from Northern State University in 2025.
