LAMONI, IOWA - The Grand View women's basketball team controlled the game from start to finish, defeating Graceland 75-51 on the road Wednesday night.
Grand View set the tone early as
Amaya Davison scored a layup in the paint to give the Vikings a 2-0 lead. After Graceland tied it at 2-2,
Ellie Knock scored a layup assisted by Davison to put the Vikings back ahead 4-2.
Anna Gossling drained a three-pointer to extend the lead to 7-4, and
Claire Galbraith added a three-pointer to make it 10-4. Galbraith followed with a jumper to push the advantage to 12-4, and Knock scored another jumper assisted by
Taryn Ottemann to extend it to 14-4. Ottemann connected on a three-pointer assisted by Gossling to give Grand View a commanding 17-6 lead. Galbraith capped the quarter with a layup assisted by Knock, and the Vikings carried a 19-6 advantage into the second period.
The Vikings continued to pull away in the second quarter. Ottemann scored a layup assisted by
Eva Solseth to make it 21-6, then added another layup and converted a three-point play to extend the lead to 23-7. Galbraith hit a three-pointer assisted by Gossling to push it to 26-9. After Graceland cut into the deficit, Ottemann made two free throws and Gossling drained a three-pointer assisted by Davison to make it 31-15. Solseth converted two free throws, and Knock added a jumper to extend the advantage to 35-15. Knock hit a three-pointer to push the lead to 38-15, and added a layup assisted by
Lily Smith to make it 40-17. Galbraith made a free throw late in the quarter, and Grand View took a commanding 41-19 lead into halftime.
Grand View maintained their dominance in the third quarter. Knock scored a layup to make it 43-23, and Davison converted two free throws to extend it to 45-23. Davison added another layup to push the lead to 47-25, and Gossling hit a three-pointer assisted by
Abigail Jones to make it 50-28. Davison scored a layup and converted a free throw to extend the advantage to 52-30. Knock added a layup, and Galbraith drained a three-pointer assisted by Ottemann to give the Vikings their largest lead at 57-30. Ottemann made two free throws late in the quarter, and Grand View carried a 59-32 lead into the final period.
The Vikings cruised through the fourth quarter with their reserves getting valuable minutes. Ottemann scored a layup to push the lead to 61-32, and after Graceland responded, Ottemann added another layup assisted by Smith to make it 63-39. Knock scored a layup assisted by Gossling, and Gossling hit a three-pointer assisted by
Hannah Hartley to extend the advantage to 68-42. Davison scored a layup and Galbraith made a free throw to push it to 71-45.
Addalyn Rooney added a layup, and
Averie Ryan capped the scoring with a layup as Grand View secured a 75-51 victory.

Grand View finishes their regular season with an impressive conference record, falling only to Missouri Valley and Benedictine, closing their season with 9 straight wins. Currently the Vikings sit in 3rd place in the conference, trailing Mid-America Nazarene and Benedictine in the standings. Grand View will host the Heart Quarterfinals on Wednesday, January 25th with the opponent determined after all regular season games conclude on the 21st.
