DES MOINES, IA — Senior goalkeepers Maya Fritz and Janette De la Cruz-Jimenez combined for 14 saves on Senior Day as Grand View played Missouri Valley to a scoreless draw in the final game of the season on Saturday at Cownie Soccer Complex. The result leaves Grand View at 3-10-4 overall and 2-8-4 in Heart of America Athletic Conference play, while Missouri Valley moves to 5-6-7 overall and 5-3-6 in league action.
Before the match, Grand View honored six members of the program: Sara Arias, Janette De la Cruz-Jimenez, Sara Duque Castaño, Maya Fritz, Lucia Randazzo and Alli Seegers. Arias, a graduate student, served as team captain this fall after missing last season due to injury. Fritz has been the starting goalkeeper since her freshman year and was named to the Heart of America All-Conference Third Team in 2023 and 2025. De la Cruz-Jimenez split time in goal with Fritz this fall. Duque Castaño transferred from Allen University in 2025 and plans to return next fall for a fifth year. Randazzo served as team manager and student assistant coach after her playing career was cut short, and Seegers played nearly every position on the field outside of goalkeeper in her first season at Grand View.
Grand View started with a chance, as Dakota Enikova put a shot on frame in the opening seconds that Missouri Valley's goalkeeper saved. From there, Missouri Valley took over the tempo and Fritz went to work. She turned away shots in the 8th, 9th and 10th minutes, then added another in the 14th. Fritz stopped another in the 28th and again in the 30th, and she denied a header off a Missouri Valley corner kick in the 34th. Late in the half she made two more stops, in the 41st and 44th minutes. Fritz finished the first half with nine saves, and Grand View went into the break level.
De la Cruz-Jimenez took over in net to start the second half and picked up where Fritz left off. Missouri Valley sent a shot wide left in the opening minute of the half and earned a corner kick in the 47th, but nothing found the net. Adyson Little put a shot over the bar in the 51st minute for Grand View, and De la Cruz-Jimenez made five saves in the half, in the 58th, 66th, 71st, 73rd and 79th minutes. Grand View created its best late looks in the final 10 minutes. Riley Pryor forced a save in the 80th minute, and Enikova had another shot turned away in the 85th. Neither team could break the tie, and the match ended 0-0, bringing Grand View's season to a close.
