DES MOINES, IOWA – The Grand View women's volleyball program looked to continue their streak of wins as they took on the Owls of William Woods University. After a 4 set win over #10 ranked Missouri Baptist University last night, the Vikings swept WWU with set scores of 25-19, 25-9, and 25-10.
Grand View University opened set one with a .310 hitting percentage, led by the senior attacking trio of
Vitoria Campos Mello (4k),
Mariana de Carvalho (3k), and
Ellie Dougherty (3k). Campos Mello paced the Vikings early with 2 aces, giving the team an early 5-0 lead. The Owls fought their way back closing the gap to one (17-16), but a Campos Mello kill followed by a Campos Mello and
Brooklyn Roder block pushed the Vikings ahead yet again. The Vikings closed the first set with two kills by
Ellie Dougherty, winning the first 25-19.
In set two, Grand View took an early lead and never looked back. William Woods struggled early with four errors, giving Grand View a 6-2 lead. After extending their lead to 9-3, on the hand of
Juliana Neves the Vikings went on a 7-0 run taking a 13-point lead. The Vikings proved their attacking dominance in set two, boasting an impressive .500 hitting percentage on 11 kills. The set ended in style, with a monstrous block by Campos Mello and Roder, taking set two 25-9.
Set three was no different as Grand View kept up the pace, taking a 15-3 lead wth nine of those points being kills. With
Clarissa Hasty delivering from the service line and
Maiah Kalima-Izumi keeping plays alive with key digs, the Vikings cruised to a 25-10 set three victory adding another 3-0 sweep to their tally.

- Vitoria Campos Mello led the Vikings in kills, aces, blocks, and points - 15 kills and a remarkable .480 hitting percentage, 3 service aces, 6.0 block assists, and 21.0 points.
- Juliana Neves was instrumental in facilitating the offense, tallying 29 assists and adding a service ace and two digs.
- Maiya Kalima-Izumi made an impact with her serving, delivering three service aces and 15 digs.
- Ellie Dougherty added 7.5 points with seven kills from 15 attempts and a .467 hitting percentage, contributing significantly to the attack.
