DES MOINES, IOWA – After a tough five-set loss on their home court, the Grand View men's volleyball team bounced back in convincing fashion, sweeping Graceland University 3-0 on the road in Lamoni, Iowa. The Vikings controlled the match from start to finish, securing set wins of 25-14, 25-18, and 25-19.
Grand View came out firing in the opening set, delivering their most efficient offensive performance of the night. The Vikings hit an impressive .450, tallying 13 kills on 20 attempts. They jumped out to an early 11-7 lead, which quickly expanded thanks to a pair of service aces from
Daniel Galili. A dominant run pushed the advantage to 24-11 before Galili sealed the set with a decisive kill off a set from
Rafael Obrusnik.
The Yellowjackets showed more resilience in the second set, keeping pace with the Vikings in the early exchanges. With the score tied at 6-6, Grand View regained control behind another Galili ace, establishing a 12-8 lead. As the set progressed, the Vikings' offense found its rhythm once again, with
Thomas Weseloh and
Michael Meacham delivering back-to-back kills to push the score to 20. A pair of Graceland errors widened the gap before
Nelson Becassis finished off the set with a powerful kill.
In the final frame, Grand View raced out to an 8-3 advantage, but a few unforced errors allowed Graceland to close the gap. However, the Yellowjackets were unable to sustain the pressure, committing costly mistakes down the stretch. The Vikings capitalized on those miscues, sealing the sweep and securing a strong rebound victory on the road.
