Box Score PERU, NEBRASKA - The Grand View women's basketball team captured a convincing road victory over Peru State, defeating the Bobcats 76-65.
Grand View started strong with
Anna Gossling converting a fastbreak layup to answer Peru State's opening basket.
Ellie Knock added a layup and
Claire Galbraith drilled a three-pointer assisted by
Eva Solseth to give Grand View a 7-4 advantage. Knock scored again in the paint before pushing the Vikings to an early 5-point lead.
Eva Solseth added a layup in the paint, and
Taryn Ottemann came off the bench to provide an immediate spark with three consecutive baskets, including two layups in the paint to push Grand View's advantage to 17-10. Gossling capped the quarter with two free throws to give the Vikings a19-12 lead after one period.
The Vikings continued their offensive surge in the second quarter. Gossling opened the period with a layup in the paint, and
Eva Peterson drained a three-pointer assisted by
Lily Smith. Peterson followed with another layup in the paint to make it 26-14, forcing a Peru State timeout. Gossling added a three-pointer assisted by Galbraith, and Ottemann converted a free throw to keep the Vikings in control.
Amaya Davison scored a layup in the paint with a three-point play opportunity, and Ottemann and Gossling each knocked down a jumper late in the quarter. Galbraith hit a three-pointer to give close the quarter, and the Vikings carried a comfortable 41-30 lead into halftime.
Grand View maintained their momentum coming out of the break. Davison scored a layup in the paint off a steal, and Solseth connected on a three-pointer assisted by Gossling to push the lead to 46-32. Gossling added a layup in the paint, and Galbraith scored consecutive baskets, including a three-pointer assisted by Gossling, to extend Grand View's advantage to 53-37. Davison contributed another layup in the paint to make it 55-38, and Solseth scored in the paint to help the Vikings maintain their double-digit cushion. Gossling converted a free throw late in the quarter, and the Vikings took a 58-51 lead into the final period.
The Vikings controlled the fourth quarter from start to finish. Ottemann opened with a layup in the paint, and Davison added another to make it 62-53. Gossling drilled a three-pointer assisted by Davison to extend the lead to 65-55, and after Peru State responded, Galbraith made three free throws to push the advantage to 68-57. Galbraith added another free throw after a Peru State technical foul to make it 69-59. Solseth came up big with a three-pointer assisted by Davison after a steal to extend the lead to 72-60. Ottemann converted two more free throws, and Gossling sealed the victory with a layup in the paint as Grand View cruised to a 76-65 road win.
