Men's Soccer Fall for the First Time This Season at CMU

FAYETTE, MISSOURI – The Grand View Men's Soccer team suffered its first defeat of the season in a hard-fought, high-energy contest against Central Methodist University, falling 3-2 in an exciting away game. The match featured multiple lead changes and intense moments, showcasing both teams' offensive firepower and resilience.
The game started with both sides battling fiercely, but neither team found the net in the opening half, with Grand View holding a slight edge in shots (7-4) and applying pressure through the first 45 minutes. The second half erupted into a dramatic back-and-forth battle, with Central Methodist striking first in the 58th minute when Pelayo Suarez giving the Eagles an early second-half lead.
Grand View responded quickly with a goal in the 64th minute from Kevin Ventura, assisted by Payton Chapman, leveling the score. However, Central Methodist regained the lead in the 76th minute when Ilhan Dervisevic found the net, assisted by Vincent Stegmiller and Suarez. The Vikings refused to give up, equalizing again in the 76th minute with a goal from Braden Schoene, assisted by Chapman, setting up a tense finish.
In the 87th minute, Pelayo Suarez appeared poised to secure the win for Central Methodist with a penalty kick, but Grand View goalkeeper Luis Helm made a crucial save to deny the attempt. Despite their valiant effort, the Vikings couldn't complete the comeback, and the game ended with a 3-2 final score in favor of the Eagles.
