Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Foster Explodes for 24 Points in Vikings’ Convincing Victory over C-SC

CANTON, MISSOURI – The Grand View men's basketball team wrapped up a week on the road with a trip to Canton, Missouri, to face Culver-Stockton. The Vikings dominated from start to finish, controlling the game for the full 40 minutes and earning a decisive 71-53 victory over the Wildcats.

The Vikings showcased a balanced offensive and defensive performance in their 71-53 victory over Culver-Stockton. Ayden Foster led the charge with an impressive 24-point outing, shooting 53% from the field (8-15) and knocking down 3-of-5 from beyond the arc while grabbing a team-high 8 rebounds. Jackson Green contributed a strong 18 points on 5-of-9 shooting, including 4-of-7 from three-point range, and went a perfect 4-for-4 from the free-throw line. Jaxson Young filled the stat sheet with 11 points, 5 assists, and 2 steals in a team-high 37 minutes. The Vikings' defense was anchored by their collective effort on the boards, pulling down 30 rebounds and forcing 8 steals to keep the Wildcats caged.

Grand View set the tone early with Foster drilling a three-pointer on the opening possession and maintained control throughout the first quarter. Key contributions from Patrick Worrell and Jackson Green, who combined for multiple three-pointers, helped the Vikings establish a 35-20 lead heading into halftime. Defensively, the Vikings forced numerous Culver-Stockton turnovers, translating them into fast-break opportunities and easy baskets. Green's three-pointer in the closing seconds of the first quarter capped off an impressive start.

In the second half, Foster continued to score efficiently, knocking down a crucial three-pointer to extend the lead, while Young added timely free throws and layups. Contributions from Connor Robertson and Green from beyond the arc ensured the Vikings maintained a comfortable cushion. Defensive intensity from Joe Knutson and Matthew Boldt limited the Wildcats' chances, and the Vikings' bench stepped up, adding all 8 of their points in the final 20.

Grand View's ability to capitalize on turnovers, outscoring Culver-Stockton 16-7 in points off turnovers, proved critical. The Vikings also held a 9-7 edge in second-chance points and recorded the game's only fast-break points, finishing with 2 to the Wildcats' 0. While points in the paint were even at 20 apiece, Grand View's consistent defensive pressure and sharp execution on offense secured the win.
