Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Vikings Deliver Decisive Win Over Park, 90-58

DES MOINES, IOWA – In their second matchup of the season, Grand View Women's Basketball cruised to a 90-58 victory over the Park University Pirates on Wednesday evening. Behind an impressive 44.8% shooting from beyond the arc, the Vikings dominated in nearly every aspect of the game, coasting to a decisive 32-point win.

The Vikings were quick out of the gate in their home gym, with Ella Larsen opening the scoring with a three-pointer, followed by Cleao Murray driving to the basket for a layup. Larsen continued to shine, hitting two more threes and adding a layup to extend Grand View's lead. Although Park briefly closed the gap with a three-pointer and a fast-break layup, the Vikings responded with an 8-1 run to close out the first quarter with a 20-12 advantage. Key contributions came from Katie Fogarty, who knocked down a baseline three-pointer, and Ellie Rengstorf, who laid one in with a scoop finish, helping Grand View maintain control.

The second quarter was a showcase of Grand View's defensive prowess and offensive efficiency, as they outscored Park 24-9. Fogarty was perfect from three-point range, hitting two more to bring her total to a spotless 3-for-3. Anna Gossling and Murray added to the offensive surge, with Gossling finishing a one-on-one layup and Murray converting a lay-in following a well-timed assist from Fogarty. The Vikings also showed their sharpshooting touch with a three-pointer from Eva Solseth, assisted by Murray. By halftime, Grand View had expanded its lead to a comfortable 44-22, shooting 50% from both the field and three-point range. Larsen led the charge with 15 points, while Murray and Rengstorf each tallied three assists.

Coming out of the break, Park attempted to make a push, scoring two quick layups, but the Vikings quickly regained control. Gossling and Larsen combined for 16 of Grand View's 24 points in the third quarter. Murray found Larsen early, dishing out two assists to Larsen who knocked down a three-pointer and a jump shot. Two Gossling threes were then split by a tough finish through the foul from Murray, followed by a jump shot from Claire Galbraith. Transition scoring capped off the third with fast break layups from Gossling on the assist from Larsen and Reagan Mudderman on her own steal, 68-43.

In the fourth quarter, Grand View continued to assert its dominance, with Murray opening the scoring with a layup. A jump shot from Taryn Lindsey, assisted by Solseth, and a fast-break layup from Solseth, assisted by Larsen, kept the Vikings rolling. Despite back-to-back threes from Park, the Vikings shut down any hopes of a Pirate comeback with layups from Murray, Larsen, and Rengstorf. The Vikings' success from beyond the arc was on full display as Abigail Jones and Eva Peterson each knocked down a three-pointer to close out the game. Grand View sealed the win with a decisive 90-58 final score.
